#EnoughIsEnough: Safeguarding Women in Politics

Following on from yet another disturbing allegation of gendered violence within Australian Parliaments, raising real questions about the safety of women parliamentarians and their staffers, GEN VIC today launches its campaign to Safeguard Women in Australian Parliaments.

We're raising funds for: 

1. A regular survey of politicians and staffers exploring experiences of sexual harassment and gender based violence in Parliaments.
2. Immediate Gender Equality Audits of all Parliaments across Australia
3. Support to enhance the online safety of women in politics.

Strong democracies are safe for women. Cultures of sexual harassment, abuse and intimidation push women out of politics, silencing our voices and undermining our representative democracy. Violence should not be tolerated in any workplace. Sexual violence of any kind is wrong. But in the halls of government, this violence serves to exclude an entire section of society from public and political life. Enough is Enough.
